Food Suggestion

If you're ever in Foley, AL at the beaches of Gulf Shores, it is well worth the 15 minute or so drive to Lambert's Cafe.
Come hungry...order a salad and it can feed 5 people.
They literally throw the roles at you, and come around often with bowl's full of food to lump on your plate.
If you have a birthday, they'll request everybody to bring a dollar by your table...

Ultimate

What keeps the waves from traveling further?

"Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: ...
'...Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth and issued from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band; when I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors; when I said, "This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!"'

~Job 38:1,8-11

'Do you not fear Me? says the Lord.' 'Will you not tremble at My presence, who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.
                                                                                                                                  ~Jeremiah 5:22

Hate Church?

This is an interesting article I found. This would be one of those where you read for yourself and process it for yourself. Interesting reading though.

How do you like church?

Reflections

First off, today we filmed the second major camp commercial with one of you as the star, you are definitely going to want to see it on June 4th at Flood down in the Fellowship hall. This one took us several places in Decatur.

Last night was pretty neat. It was the first time I got to lead with my brothers since DNow in February, so it was really awesome. We did two 'new' songs, the first was a song called 'Sing Sing Sing'. It brought a lot of energy, and I think people grabbed onto it really well. The second is the one I want to reflect on. We did Crowder's Rain Down. I had this song on the set list for a very long time, but for some reason it just wasn't fitting in, or working out the way I had wanted it to. Well, at about 3 o'clock yesterday, we did a run-through, and out of that run came a completely different Rain Down. It was slower, more reflective. The song has a powerful message/request. To declare : Holy Holy is the Lord; and to ask: Lord, Rain Down your love on us, and Your peace. That is the theme for camp, in part.

Brent spoke on hope and healing. The one thing I remember him saying that really stuck with me was this:: "Let's not have our usual 'Thursday Night cry-night" this year. He was saying how camp always seems to be all fun and games, and then we always have a 'serious' night, and then it always goes away. So my question is, what do you want camp to look like for you?

We recorded last night, the band, and video taped it. We sat in the office today and watched it, to kind of see what we felt worked, and what didn't, and what we can do to make things better. If I can get it on here, I will, so you can see what we saw, but what we saw was pretty amazing. Two things that stuck out, the first:

1) I saw some adults in the back singing their hearts out, clapping their hands, and dancing to the music, thats right! And I saw the students standing like statues as if they were just at a cool concert.

2) I heard everyone singing loudly 'Example' at the end of the night, and that was pretty special as that was the camp song last year. That song means a lot to us. We have a song this year for camp, it is called 'Rain Down'. No, it is not Crowder's, it is Brad Johnson's. It has a powerful message, and I can't wait for you to hear it, and respond with it.

Flood has come a long way, and it is going to be taken to a whole new level this summer. It isn't about the music, the lights, the stage, the screens, or the speakers. It is about God. One of the things I decided to hold to this summer was that I would not do things if they did not Glorify God, or Further His Kingdom. Having said that, we will have great music, we will have more lights than you have ever seen at flood on the biggest stage ever made at flood with more screens running than you thought could be possible. Why, because through these small things, God is going to be Glorified, and His Kingdom furthered through our Experiences with Him at Flood. Starting June 4th, 6:00pm, Fellowship Hall...

Get Ready

We've been working all morning and will throughout the afternoon preparing for tonight's Flood.  Maegan will meet up with Brent this afternoon.  All the videos are finished and ready to go.  We'll be doing announcements differently tonight.  We're working on setting up a new piece of equipment we got in yesterday...be watching the blog for a video of the unboxing, and come tonight to admire it.

I'm working on setting up these massive keyboards....I'm not sure if I'll use them tonight or not.  Has anyone seen the pedal for the Yamaha???  (256) 565.8631  if you know where it is.

We hope to see you all here to fill these chairs!  Come expecting.

The Blog Baccalaureate Address

Having a brother who is graduating high school next week, I have had the wonderful opportunity to attend the many many many ceremonies and recognition services held throughout this past week. Tonight, I attended the Senior Baccalaureate ceremony (called Senior Recognition service, I think in part because nobody knows what Baccalaureate means, or how to spell it).

So, in honor of graduation, here is the Blog's very own attempt at an address:

Dear distinguished readers of the InternBlog, all three of you, the honorable Gabe Ross, and Mr. Anonymous (who in the world are you that keeps posting on here??): We have gathered here today for the twentieth time to recognize your achievements, again, for the twentieth time. Soon you will venture out from these wonderful hard-wood seats that your rears are so familiar with, into a world full of wonderful opportunities. I encourage you, no matter what you do, to strive to become the 'better you'. For this is really your best life now.

Many of you have received gifts from friends and family over the past few days. Remember that life is not about material possessions, but about victory and prosperity.

Sometimes in life you will go through hard times, times of sickness, or sadness. Remember good ole bugs bunny:

Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out alive. -Bugs Bunny.

ok, ok, enough of the sarcasm, if you couldn't sense it, but, if i were to give a speech, i would say to strive for success, strive to accomplish your goals and dreams, seek God in everything, even when you have to make a decision on what to drink, or eat, or what parties to go to, or what church to attend, and the biggest thing I would say is actually echoing what I heard today at church, discover who God is Yourself, seek after Him and find out who He is to you. Define the Relationship. Have the good ole DTR talk with God.

Thank You, good night, and don't trip across the stage when getting your diploma :)

Digitalization

CBSM's future sound board was brought in from TN tonight.  The media/production team was there to test it out.  Here's a look at it.

We were there to provide some music to test the board with and practice our set for Flood.  Our set list is looking like:  O Happy Day, Sing Sing Sing, Rain Down (Crowder), and a special song from camp last year.

For those of you who have been checking the blog, here ya go, the new camp highlight video we are showing Wednesday.

'supersweet' is the word

Today I spent several hours with Gabe and Roger up at the new location. We were looking over charts, plans, specs., all that wonderful stuff. We even taped out the future stage, you can see parts of it below.

Tonight we had flood, up on the 4th floor. It was incredible. I popped an 'A' string on my electric (how in the world does that ever happen?!?!)... and for you music nuts, it sent the other 5 strings a whole step higher......anyways, it was an awesome time of worship. Lots of energy. I see huge things happening this summer. God sized things. Get ready.

Next week is camp preview night, and you better check it out, because after next week, the fourth floor is coming down, well not really, but flood is moving downstairs, and I can't even begin to tell you what all is happening, so here is a clue, it involves 2 mac computers, 3 projection screens, space for up to 200 students, and a summer worship band that is going to lead us in some incredible times of response to our king...so get ready...supersweet is the word

Should have gotten a footlong..

so yes, there is a story behind this one,

we, the interns, and gabe go to subway today for lunch, because you can get $5 footlongs, and, well, they are awesome.

so I get in line and order a footlong turkey on wheat with pepper jack cheese (the best sandwich in the world), from which I am given a 'you can't have a turkey footlong for $5..'

this is what I don't get, you can have:
meatball sub, grilled chicken sub, cold cut trio, etc.

so I said to the guy behind the counter, who had this funny smirk on his face.. 'how does this make since, all i want is turkey!?'

his smile gets bigger, and he says 'turkey costs more'

so i get a petty 6inch...but man, i should have gotten a footlong anyways

way to go subway

(by the way, great video blog going up tomorrow of day 1 in the office)

A Reminder

The camp flood 08 logo makes a great desktop background. It can be found at www.cbsmonline.org. Just left click on it and click 'set as desktop background'.

I would encourage you to do this, that way every time you get on the computer to check your facebook [and the intern blog ;) ], you can see the logo, which will serve as a reminder of a week this summer that has the potential to send your little world into a spin.

Also, it can serve as a reminder to pray. Pray for the staff. Pray for your friends. Pray for Brent Gambrell and the messages he will bring, and Brad Johnson in the songs he will lead us in.

Its not you...

We have been together for a while

I do not know where I would have gotten without you

Everywhere I go, you were there

I spent money on you

I gave you a home

But you are too high maintenance for me..

You made me want to cry..

We are done, it is finished..

It is you, not me

Gas Pump, you are no longer my friend

Ramblings

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Waiting on God.... sucks, for lack of a better word

Ever want something real bad? Ever been praying about something for a real long time, and nothing seems to happen?

I do. I have.

Well.....

"...let us hold FIRMLY to the faith we profess." -Hebrews 4:14

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart." -Hebrews 12:2-3

Have a good Friday. I'm sure you've been waiting for it.

Chris says hello by the way...from Ireland.

40404

Gabe is twittering.

He is. Know what that means?

It means he can send out something like a facebook status, or really important information, or really random things that go through his head to all the masses through text messaging.

You really want in on this. Especially this summer.

Here is the easiest way to do it. Send a text message to the # 40404 that says: follow cbsm

again, that is the word 'follow' and a space, and the word 'cbsm'

thats it, get connected!

Camp Confessional #1

...from the overflow of the heart...

Everyone has shirts that you eventually stop wearing. Whether it be because you have gotten so many new ones and the old ones just get shoved to the back of the drawer, or you just get tired of them, or you have way to many facebook pictures with the same shirt and you decide to throw it out.

This shirt has been worn out, but I haven't worn it in about a year. I pulled it out the other day and so many memories came to mind.

I remember the hundreds of people who went up to camp agape for the first time

I remember the bus driver who nearly fell asleep...

...on the bus that eventually overheated..

I remember how the guys got the insane 1 mile walk to breakfast, lunch, and dinner every single day

I remember the quite times at the picnic table, hidden from everyone else

I remember the nights of camp

I remember my counselor, and the rock that our tribe had

I remember the really long nights of just talking, talking about life, talking about God

I remember standing on the top of the hill and watching some good friends get baptized in the lake

I remember this thought...'what goes in, comes out'

Now we are 2 years later, Camp Flood 08; "Rain"

I can't wait to experience it. I can't wait to see some lives changed. I can't wait to be there. You know why? Because Camp only gets better! It doesn't get worse. It gets bigger. We as a staff push it to the limits, and my friends, I must say, camp this year is going to blow your minds!!! Want to know why? Well....come find out.

And maybe start checking this blog every single day, especially one week from now...
