What keeps the waves from traveling further?

"Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: ...
'...Or who shut in the sea with doors, when it burst forth and issued from the womb; when I made the clouds its garment, and thick darkness its swaddling band; when I fixed My limit for it, and set bars and doors; when I said, "This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!"'

~Job 38:1,8-11

'Do you not fear Me? says the Lord.' 'Will you not tremble at My presence, who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.

can you imagine being asked to step out on those waves??? during a storm when the waves are taller than your boat? or with all the ocean animals beneath you? talk about learning something about a step of faith...

The question is not so much "What" as it is "Who." Just as He keeps the waves under control, so will He keep the "waves" of my lives. I think that's very comforting, especially when I sometimes feel like my life is getting out of control.
