Believe

In our college Bible study tonight, we focused on simply believing in God as the second part of our series called 'Simple' by Andy Stanley. Week one focused on simply 'Following' Jesus. Tonight was simply 'Believing' Jesus. This phrase popped up in our discussion afterwards:

To Believe = To Not Doubt

Hey, this word quite simply defines our Relationship with God... so we better have a clear understanding of what it means!

Set List

For you few faithful student blog readers, here is what tomorrow night's music will look like:

Everything Glorious
Everlasting God

At the Cross
Rain Down
Nothing But the Blood/Hosanna

Espere que usted pueda hablar español

Las camisas de la inundación del campamento son coloradas este año. El color es realmente fresco. No es rojo, ni amarillo. Es otro color. No, no azul cualquiera. Espere que ayude. Si usted es listo, usted probablemente utilizó traducción.com libre para leer esto :)

YAY my first post!!

Hello Everyone! So I have had some major problems with making accounts on blogspot and then forgetting my information to log in...SO I finally decided to post under Chad's name because I have something neat to share with you! As most of you know, a little over a year ago I had brain surgery at Children's Hospital in Birmingham. I have a condition called Chiari Malformation and I had an operation to make life just a lot better for me and stop me from loosing feeling in parts of my body. I now do very well with my condition and only check in with the doctor every once in a while now for routine check-ups. God sometimes doesn't show us why we go through things for a long time but now I am starting to understand....God sometimes allows very bad things to happen to help you grow but more than that to allow you to invest in other people...The picture above is of Cate and I at McDonalds. Cate is 4 years old and also suffers from a Chiari Malformation. She is having brain surgery today just as I did and I wanted to inform all of you so you could pray for her...We got to spend time together on Saturday and I got to meet her family and help them understand what I went through to help them understand Cate! Cate and I found each other through the Culver's (as in Chandler and Cassie) because she is their cousin and they knew what I had gone through and put them in contact with me! So I hope all of you will remember this cute little face and say a prayer for you and remember God puts reasons for suffering in your life you just have to look for them! See you at Flood ..(sorry my first post was so long...promise they won't all be like this)!!

Hartselle Camp Meeting

Tonight we went to a gathering called the Hartselle Camp Meeting. I didn't really know what it was (still don't really know for sure) or what all was going to happen, but I did know two things, Brad Johnson was gonna be there and Phil Waldrep was speaking, so I was all in. It took place in a building called the Tabernacle which is over a hundred years old. The pews had these on them..

Thats right, an old fashioned hymnal and a fan with a picture of Jesus! They sang some hymns and gospel tunes to kick the service off. Then the singer guy said, "Lets all open to hymn number something or other and you can remain seated but lets sing the roof off this place!" From that point, I think Parker, Brad and I laughed our heads off through the first 3 stanzas.

But I have to honestly say, the message Phil (whom I love listening to by the way) brought hit straight home. It is almost like he had been living my life with me for the past month.

It is amazing. I seriously thought this gathering was way too old for its time, but I took so much away tonight. It goes to show that a dirt floor, wooden pews, old fashioned hymns, etc. mean squat. I will even venture to say that carpeted floors, killer sound system, and cool lights mean squat. The word of God means everything. I could care less about the rest. I didn't take home the rotten pews, the ancient hymns, or the fan with a picture of Jesus with me ( I did take home some of the hay that was on the ground though..) I took home what mattered, the message of God.

I have a lot to think about.

What is it you take most out of church?

Free Hotdog Fridays!!!

In case you didn't know Home Depot has "free hotdog Fridays".  Yep its exactly what it sounds like, free hotdogs on Fridays at your favorite home supply store.

Chad and I were buying some supplies for camp and one of the stops on our list was Home Depot.   So we're in home depot and beginning to get hungry.  Our plan is to hurry and get out of there and go get some food.  So on the way out this guy stops us and offers us a free hotdog.  He then tells us about " free hotdog Fridays ".  Every Friday he cooks hotdogs @ Home Depot to tell people of all the services Home Depot has to offer.  He goes through a list of services but he misses the most important....."Free hotdog Fridays".  I don't know about you but I'll be making visits to Home Depot on Fridays.  See you there?

when butter meets the table

Has this ever happened to anyone? You go to apply that wonderful clump of butter to your biscuit, and wham! it falls off the knife and adheres to the nice clean restaurant table..

Well you know, life is kind of like butter. You expect it to go one way, and, well, it sometimes doesn't. But you know what you do? You take that butter and you throw it away, and you still eat the biscuit because, well, it is a wonderful biscuit.

...And that is exactly what happened at lunch...

Would You Want One of Yours?

Would You want a picture of your house on the web?

Yeah, me neither, and that is all the pics we got today, so we will figure out a way to do one of those before/after deals later this week.

Day 1 was good. Definitely day 1 though. Lots of things needed to be worked out, lots of hair that was pulled out :) . We got things working though.

I am really excited about the students. Not only did they put forth a lot of effort, but everyone is working really really well with each other, which is incredible, because everyone is so mixed up amongst the churches. Very encouraging.

Most of the work being done is aesthetic, so it is neat to be able to walk away and see a noticeable change.

Day 2 tomorrow. We start the bible clubs as well. Pics tomorrow, hopefully.

Metamorphosis

Starting Monday morning, shovels will be digging, hammers banging, paint dripping, and much much more as the student ministries here in Decatur go out into our community to show the love of Christ. This blog will reflect the work that is done throughout the week, all week, through stories, pictures, videos, maybe even some testimonies. The interns, myself included, will be out of the office all week, from 8-4 everyday, and outside working in boots and gloves along with everyone else. I can't wait.

Here is the verse I have been thinking about going into tomorrow.

Micah 6:8

He has showed you, O man, what is good.
And what does the LORD require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God

FCA

I am really digging this ministry right now. We are at an FCA Leadership Camp through the weekend with Brad. We had an incredible night of worship, two nights straight. Incredible. Flood last night, and then the experience tonight here in Jackson. The group really opened up. It is so awesome to hear an entire room of people singing to God, some crying, some clapping, some dancing. Several people acknowledged that they needed a Savior in their life. How awesome. I love being in an environment where the Spirit really moves, you can just feel God's presence, and everything is so genuine and from the heart. There is really a sense of freedom.

Now, to digress a bit. This is a gathering of a bunch of coaches, and students. And the college team smack talk is on! No kidding, two seconds in the door and I get thrown crap about going to LSU, and then when I start slinging, Brad starts talking junk about Bama, and then this Ole Miss guy.... and then a guy backs chris up about going to state. :) Geaux Tigers.

Get ready for some pics in the next few days. I am really thankful for Gabe and him allowing us to not only intern at central, but to take what we do outside Decatur, and share it with others.

Thanks - please respond!

Thank You Thank You

-to all of you who came to the church this afternoon to help set up for Flood, it is amazing when you, the students, care enough about your ministry to be willing to come up and serve, thanks so much

-to whoever in the church let us wreck the fellowship hall to provide an awesome place to worship God

-to our sound man and computer men (running 2 macs tonight woo hoo!)

-to Tim, for listening to God and bringing a message we all needed to hear

-to parker and the rest of the band for leading

-to God for somehow, in His mysterious ways, allowing everything to actually happen tonight

-----------------
I want to know what You thought about tonight. Please respond back or email me at chadcampbell87@yahoo.com. This service is for you the students to worship. We can't make things better, or change things, if you don't tell us (for example, if you think the sound is too loud, or the subs are too loud, tell us! we can't do anything about it if you don't!!! and we really won't feel obligated to change things if you go and tell everybody BUT us what the problems are!) - so we need your feedback, so holla back!

Summer Flood Last Minute Preparations

Monday, June 2, 2008

if you read this post- an invitation..

Hey, just throwing this out there because I know like me several years ago, when it comes summer time and you don't have a job, you often find yourself bored out of your mind. So, we are giving everything we have into Flood (our Wednesday night gathering) this summer, and with that takes a lot of time, and a lot of work, which we are willing to do, because God is worthy of it, and the student ministry is worth it.

So.. if you find yourself twiddling your thumbs all day, logging onto facebook compulsively, or quite simply sleeping the hours away, I invite you to come up to the church. Any day of the week (except Fridays). We spend Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays primarily setting up for Flood, which means moving sound equipment, staging (6 full decks of it), hanging lights, running cables, setting chairs, tables, making movies, hanging 3 projection screens, projectors, setting up macs...the list goes on. You can be a part of all this, if you want. You can spend some quality time with your interns if you want, too.

Not to mention..you could be the star of a camp video...

Open Invitation. Take it, or leave it.

See you wednesday night, 6pm, Fellowship hall.

What are you expecting?

Sunday, June 1, 2008

kaboom!

Flood this Wednesday night is going to be so amazing, that we are actually having to make sure that we don't break any fire codes! You see, the original plan was @#$#!@#$#!@#$, but then we found out that we couldn't !!#$#@!@#$#@! because it would break some fire codes... bummer. So tomorrow, we are going to try to figure out how to !@#$#@!@#$! without getting into any trouble. Now, I'm sure you are wondering what in the world is going down this Wednesday night at 6:00pm in the Fellowship Hall, well, to give you a clue, we are creating an environment that will give you the chance to respond to God as if fireworks were going off inside of you. Many of you are probably expecting something out of this world, something completely different, something crazy and unheard of.....well, maybe our expectations are a little out of line....maybe we really don't have any expectations for our time with the Lord at all!?!? Hmmm. Expect great things my friend. We need not fireworks to give reason to praise.

I just spent the last 6 hours on and off putting together the next camp commercial, which will be revealed at Flood on Wednesday night.

Be there.
